About Us

21st Century Agrivillages

Agrivillages Hawai'i, as a company, wants to acknowledge to each other and the rest of the world that:

  1. We love our beautiful island and its friendly people.
  2. We want to preserve our magnificent open spaces and agricultural lands, slow the growth of traffic and highway spending, ensure public access to the ocean and mountains, increase the supply of affordable housing, strengthen our economy, and nurture real community.
  3. Therefore we support the concept of ecologically-designed, mixed-income, mixed-use, resource-conserving, productive "agrivillages" as an alternative to conventional spread-'em-out, grid-overlay subdivisions that create rural sprawl and social isolation along with other negative impacts.
  4. We understand that this leaves many questions still to be answered. But we think it is important for everyone to first make the basic choice between conventional development and the agrivillage model.

Would you like to join the list of people who have made this basic choice in favor of the agrivillage model?

We invite you to send us your comments, questions and suggestions on behalf of this endeavor. Please let us know if we can add your name to our list of Agrivillage advocates!
